Don't let delays or changes ruin your vacation!  Try these travel apps and websites instead.

DETROIT, Mich. -

Don't plan your next getaway this summer without checking out some cool new apps and sites on the market.  There are great road-trip planning websites and must-see travel apps that can help you plot your route, find fun adventures – even on a moment’s notice – and save you money.

If you hate keeping track of all the confirmation numbers from airlines, rental car companies and dinner reservations, then you might want to try Tripit.  This travel itinerary planner organizes confirmations automatically when they hit your mailbox.  If there are gate changes, flight delays, or other last minute changes, Tripit updates automatically.

If you're stranded by weather or flight concellation, Hotel Tonight is a free app offering the best same-day deals.  Also, it keeps you from sleeping at the airport.  When Forbes tested the site they found a price $170 cheaper than the hotel's own website.

Don't forget about Twitter!  You can get great travel deals on the social networking site.  @JetBlueCheeps notifies you of JetBlue's discounts.  If you fly Delta and need assistance, @DeltaAssist is monitored 24/7.

Consumer Reports test drove several of the available travel apps and websites on the market, and found AAA.com is powerful, and you don't need to be a member to use it.  Not only does it give you everything to plan your adventure, but it also can help you find great hotel and meal deals.

RoadTripAmerica.com has a fuel cost estimator, and there's a road trip compatibility quiz which analyzes how compatible you are with your trip mates.

If national parks are more your style, US-Parks.com helps you find America's wonders.  It also offers a tool to suggest how to take in several parks and monuments in one trip.

Finally, if you don't want to leave your furry family members home, TRIPSwithPETS.com suggests pet-friendly hotels as well as pet policies for major airlines and rental car chains.  It even has its own travel club for your pet.  Sign up for the newsletter to get advance word on discounts.
