Traffic lights out on 23 Mile Road east of M-53 in Shelby Township

Crews are cleaning up after a traffic accident tore down traffic lights on 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township.

According to Shelby Township Police, around 2:30 Monday morning an accident occurred on 23 Mile Road just east of M-53. The accident completely tore down the traffic lights in that location.

It is expected to take most of the day Monday for crews to rebuild those lights. In the meantime, crews have set up stop signs in order to accommodate traffic.

Police say that everyone involved in the accident is expected to be okay. They are asking drivers to avoid the area.
