Detroit's Cobo Convention Center was once crumbling, but now millions of dollars in renovations are breathing new life into the building.

Phase 2 of renovation plans will be announced Wednesday morning.

It will include a 25,000-square-foot expansion to the front and back and extensive remodeling. So far, there have been more than $3 million in electrical upgrades and repairs to the roof and loading dock

"The responses that we've had from show management have been very positive," said Tom Tuskey, Director of Cobo Center.

Major changes made thus far include upgrading plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems and revamping food options. A Seattle?s Best Coffee stand is now open, and menu items from Andiamo?s Italian eatery have been incorporated into the center?s restaurant, the Vu.
