Thousands wake up to no power Monday morning

DTE Energy working to have power back by 9 a.m.

DETROIT – Thousands of people across metro Detroit are waking up without power.

DTE Energy says 13,000 of its customers are in the dark -- mostly in Wayne County -- but outages are scattered.

DTE says it is working on restoring power.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports high winds were to blame for knocking out power to more than 2,000 customers of CMS Energy Corp.'s Consumers Energy unit on Sunday.

Winds also knocked down tree limbs in areas around the state.

The Ludington Daily News reports high winds contributed to a delay of about two hours in docking by the S.S. Badger car ferry that runs between Manitowoc, Wis., and the West Michigan community of Ludington. Winds were gusting up to 28 mph at the time the ship arrived Sunday night in Ludington.
