DETROIT -

The Detroit Bomb Squad found and defused a suspicious package near Wayne State University's campus on Thursday.

The package was said to be in or near a dumpster next to The Hannan House, which is a senior living center on Woodward Avenue just south of Warren Avenue.

The center was evacuated as a precaution. The bomb squad said the package was not explosive. They still "defused" it.

Police say the package did contained some materials that could be used in a bomb.

Woodward Avenue was closed between Warren and Forest during the investigation.
