Detroit -

The severe weather across metro Detroit has knocked out the power to the Detroit Police Department’s Telephone Crime Reporting Unit.

The temporary loss of service prevents members of Detroit Police Department from taking reports over the telephone.

According to the department, the outage happened at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers at districts and precincts will take reports until service is restored.

The department says they hope to have full service soon.
