DETROIT -

Michigan State Police chased a driver around town Wednesday until he struck another vehicle and crashed on the exit ramp of the northbound Lodge Freeway at Webb Street in Detroit.

Troopers originally tried to stop the suspect's vehicle on eastbound Interstate 696 near Dequindre Road. The driver fled east on I-696 to Interstate 94 where he traveled westbound all the way to the Lodge Freeway. Officers chased him north on the Lodge until he tried to exit at Webb Street.

That's where he struck another vehicle on the exit ramp, ending the chase. Police arrested him.

The driver of the other vehicle is OK. State Police have not said what the original traffic stop was for.

The pursuit never reached speeds above 80 miles per hour, police said.
