Stamp Out the Hunger Food drive

Post offices across the country participate in this food drive

DETROIT – Tons of food was collected for the postal workers annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday.

Volunteers worked all day at post offices across Metro Detroit, sorting through pounds of donated food.

People left non-perishable items near their mailbox and they were picked up by mail carriers.

Local 4 cameras stopped by the Strathmoor Post Office in Detroit and Food brought to that location will go to Gleaners Food Bank.

The drive is the largest one-day-food-collection event in the country.

Last year mail carriers collected more than 70-million pounds of food.
