St. Clair Shores City Manager Ben Hughes resigned from his position at Thursday night's City Council meeting.

Mayor Kip Walby did not offer a more detailed explanation for Hughes' resignation other than he left to go in another direction.

The St. Clair Shores city manager position is appointed by the mayor and City Council. The manager functions as the chief administrative officer for the city, according to its website.
