Small fire breaks out at Hockeytown Cafe in Detroit

Firefighters douse small fire at Detroit's Hockeytown Cafe

DETROIT – Hockeytown Cafe will open the first level of its restaurant Thursday at 4 p.m. and Friday at 3 p.m.

The downtown restaurant had been closed since a fire broke out Tuesday night in a kitchen.

No one was hurt and the blaze was quickly put out.

The Detroit Lions play Thursday night and the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

The restaurant will provide beverage and bar service on the first level through the late evening as well as serve a limited menu of grilled items until 8 p.m. on the outdoor patio including hot dogs, hamburgers, brats and Italian sausage as well as a variety of side dishes.

Statement from Olympia Entertainment

"The restaurant was closed for business and nobody was in the building when the fire started.  The Detroit Fire Department contained the fire resulting in relatively minor damage sustained to the restaurant.  Hockeytown Café will be closed for the next 1-3 days as we conduct a full assessment of the damage and complete the necessary water and smoke clean up."
