Traffic stop turns into police chase, shots fired in west Detroit

DETROIT – Michigan State Police troopers arrested two people Thursday night after a pursuit ended with shots fired on Detroit's west side.

It started as a traffic stop but turned into a chase when the suspects took off.

State troopers chased the Chrysler 300M to Grand River Avenue and Stout Street. Shots were fired.

A bullet struck a trooper vehicle, but no one was injured.

Two people were taken into custody, one person got away.

Several high-powered weapons were confiscated from the vehicle. The weapons were said to be registered in the city of Troy.
