An 80-year-old woman was found dead with her hands tied and throat slit.

ROYAL OAK, Mich. -

Investigators were blanketing two motels Monday night near Woodward Avenue, very near to where an 80-year-old woman was found dead Sunday.

Sources told Local 4 that the exhaustive search was linked to Nancy Daily's killing.

Daily lived at her home on Tafford Street near Woodward Avenue and 13 mile Road for decades. Police said her hands were bound behind her back and her throat was cut.

They said it appeared she had struggled with her attacker and that there was evidence of a robbery at her home.

Daily was likely killed between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Neighbors could not fathom how what happened to Daily could possibly be true.

"She walked every day. She was active. You would see her walking in the summer and winter up and down the road here," said neighbor Bud Martin.

Police were searching for a white sports utility vehicle or minivan.
