Royal Oak police say a vehicle struck a runner Monday near Dukeshire Highway and Chester Road.

The runner, a member of the Shrine High School cross country team, was with the team running in the street when a verbal altercation occurred with the driver of the vehicle.

The driver pulled onto the grass and the vehicle struck the runner before fleeing. Police found the vehicle nearby and arrested the driver for felonious assault.

No charges have been filed.

The runner was not injured.
