The principal of Royal Oak High School, Michael Greening, was arrested and arraigned Friday on charges of embezzling money from various student activity accounts.
The charges come months after an investigation into the accusations which began in December 2010.
Greening surrendered himself at the Royal Oak Police Department around noon on Friday. He was accompanied by his attorney.
Charges against Royal Oak principal:
He is charged with two counts of embezzlement ($1,000 or more but less than $20,000). The penalty, upon conviction, is up to five years in prison and/or a fine of $10,000 or three times the amount embezzled, whichever is greater.
Greening was booked and arraigned in front of the Honorable Terrance Brennan of the 44th District Court.
Greening stood mute and was given a $50,000 personal recognizance bond. A preliminary examination is scheduled for April 27.
