Rep. Candice Miller to receive Truman Award

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

U.S. Rep. Candice Miller has earned the Harry S. Truman Award for distinguished service in support of national defense.

The Republican from Macomb County is to receive the award on Tuesday in Chesterfield Township.

The Truman Award is the highest honor given by the National Guard Association of the United States. It's awarded to those who have made sustained contributions to the defense and security of the United States.

Previous recipients include Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, Sen. Bob Dole and Bob Hope.

The Truman Award is to be presented to Miller by Gen. Gus Hargett, the president of the National Guard Association of the United States.
