The Michigan State Police are still investigating a pedestrian accident that occurred early Wednesday on westbound I-94.

A man was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the highway near Little Mack Avenue in Roseville.

Police initially said the man died, but they later learned he survived.

The pedestrian involved is 33-years-old and from Detroit.

He is currently in stable condition, but is still heavily sedated and has critical injuries to the left side of his body.

MSP say they received more than 25 calls from concerned citizens who witnessed the crash.

Police would like to remind people that it is illegal to walk along the freeway.

If your vehicle breaks down along the freeway, stay inside your vehicle with your seatbelt fastened until help arrives.

It is very difficult to judge the speeds of traffic and it is very dangerous to attempt to cross the freeway say police.
