Police asked residents to stay vigilant while they continue the search for the roadway shooter.

WIXOM, Mich. -

Police from several jurisdictions met Wednesday to update the public on the search for a roadway shooter.

Since Oct. 16, police say 24 incidents involving shots fired at cars or people were reported in Oakland, Ingham, Livingston and Shiawassee counties.

More than 100 full-time investigators are working to find the suspect.

Investigators say they received more than 2,000 tips since the reward for information leading to an arrest of the shooter was raised to $102,000.

Police say approximately 1,300 tips came in after the FBI and ATF increased the reward.

Police are not ruling out the possibility that more than one person may be involved in the shootings and they are stepping up patrols for Halloween.

Despite fears that I-96 is not safe, police say only three of the reported incidents occurred there.

The task force reminded citizens to remain vigilant and reporting information to 800-SPEAK-UP.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says an incident Wednesday morning on I-96 was a road rage case and not a shooting.
