WARREN, Mich. -

The Michigan State Police are currently investigating a man that was hit by a vehicle Saturday morning on westbound I-696 and Van Dyke Ave.

The Warren Police Department received calls that a person had jumped from the Van Dyke Ave. bridge and landed on westbound I-696 around 10:45 a.m.

Witnesses say they saw the man standing on the Van Dyke Ave. overpass, strip off his cloths and fall backwards on to I-696 below. The man was hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on I-696. The driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the man, but did not have enough time to react.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to the Macomb County Medical Examiner's office. State Police are trying to identify the individual at this time.

Westbound I-696 was shut down between 10:50 a.m. and 1 p.m. for an investigation, but has since reopened.
