Police investigate attempted murder involving family members

BEDFORD TWP, Michigan -

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an attempted murder involving family members.

According to police officials, deputies were dispatched to a home on the 10000 block of Lewis Avenue in Bedford Township around 11 Saturday night.

Police say a 68-year-old man pulled a handgun and pointed it at his 42-year-old stepson during an argument. The two men struggled over the gun causing it to fire multiple times. The stepson was able to gain control of the handgun before deputies arrived. There were no injuries as a result of the gun fire.

The 68-year-old man was released pending an arrest warrant. The incident is currently under investigation.
