WALKER, Mich. -

Police have identified a 19-year-old Trenton woman who was struck and killed while attempting to cross a road in west Michigan.

Police say Grand Valley State University student Jessie Winterholler was with two college students about 7 p.m. Friday, when a verbal argument ensued and the driver pulled off the road on Nolan Avenue at Three Mile Road.

Police said one of the females got out of the vehicle and walked away. Winterholler left the vehicle to go after her friend and was fatally struck by a westbound driver.

Police said the vehicle was driven by a 49-year-old Holland woman, who was released.
