OXFORD, Mich. – A 27-year-old Pennsylvania man was arrested this weekend after allegedly punching an Oakland County deputy in the chest.

The sheriff's office said the deputy was stopped at a light Sunday on M-24 in Oxford when a business owner flagged him down, saying she needed help with a drunk man who had been in her diner. The deputy found the suspect at a nearby liquor store next and was punched in the chest while talking with him, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect, Anthony Ruiz of Beaver Falls, was arrested and taken to the Oakland County jail, pending charges.

The deputy was not hurt.
