Oakland University has denied further appeals by a 56-year-old student who was suspended after writing about an attraction to his professor for an assignment.
Joseph Corlett, of Orion Township, was also barred from the school's campus.
The conflict centers around a writing journal assignment for Corlett's Advanced Critical Writing class.
According to Corlett, the assignment could be any topic, so he used "Hot for Teacher," as an entry back in November. Corlett said the entry is based on a song by Van Halen.
A committee that included school administrators, professors and students found that Corlett engaged in intimidating behavior.
The Philadelphia-based Foundation for Individual Rights in Education has been working to get Corlett reinstated. The foundation said the school is violating Corlett's right to free speech.
Corlett said he is considering legal action.
