Oakland County parks offering Christmas tree recycling

Oakland County Parks and Recreation is has 11 park locations to make holiday cleanup easy and environmentally friendly by offering to recycle Christmas trees.

The free recycling event begins Dec. 26, 2012 and runs every day until Jan. 13, 2013.

You can recycle your Christmas tree at Addison Oaks in Leonard, Catalpa Oaks in Southfield, Glen Oaks Golf Course in Farmington Hills, Groveland Oaks near Holly, Independence Oaks in Clarkston, Lyon Oaks in Lyon Township, Oakland County Market in Waterford, Orion Oaks in Orion Township, Red Oaks Golf Course in Madison Heights, Springfield Oaks in Davisburg, and White Lake Oaks Golf Course in White Lake.

Independence Oaks and Orion Oaks will have extended Christmas tree recycling from Dec. 26, 2012 to Jan. 27, 2013.

Tree drop-off is free.

All decorations, plastic, tinsel and wire must be removed from trees prior to arrival. The program is self-service, and assistance in removing trees from vehicles is not provided.
