Oakland County deputy knocked unconscious by suspect he was trying to restrain

Deputy hospitalized after suspect's blows renders him unconscious on the pavement

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – An Oakland County deputy was struck by a person he was trying to restrain and take to Common Ground late Saturday night.

The department says the officer was struck so hard that he hit the pavement and was unconscious.

The officer is still in the hospital but officials say his injures do not appear to be serious.

The person who attacked the officer is to be charged and arraigned this afternoon in Pontiac district court.

According to the website, Common Ground is a non-profit agency providing help for families in crisis, victims of crime, persons with mental illness, runaways and homeless youth.
