Oakland County clerk finds illegal immigrants among voters

Oakland County clerk says non-citizens are on Michigan voting registration rolls

PONTIAC, Mich. – An investigation by the Oakland County Clerk's Office found illegal immigrants have been voting in county elections.

What clerk Bill Bullard found stunned him.

"It throws the whole integrity of the voting process into question," Bullard said.

While doing random checks, Bullard and his staff surveyed three months worth of jury duty questionnaires and matched it against voter registration records. Doing spot checks alone, in a three month period, they found more than 30 illegal immigrants on the voting rolls.

"Non-citizens are on the registration rolls in Michigan," Bullard said. "We've proved that here in Oakland County."

He said this represents the tip of the proverbial iceberg.

For now, more checks are needed. Bullard is forwarding the illegal immigrants to the appropriate local clerks who can purge them from the voting rolls.

The names of those illegally in Michigan and registered to vote are headed to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

"It's a lot, it's a lot," Bullard said. "It shouldn't be. There should be zero."
