America's Thanksgiving Parade will kick off with a new groove.

Thursday morning's signature event through downtown Detroit will open with "Celebrate America...Celebrate Detroit." The new song written by veteran Motor City composer-producer Dan Yessian is billed as a "high-energy dance number" that will accompany a performance by the Mid American Pompon All Star Team.

Parade organizers say they wanted to re-energize the parade with a number that would celebrate the city. It replaces a song called "Shine," which had been used for a few years.

The new song is available on iTunes, and proceeds go to The Parade Co. That's the nonprofit group that puts on the televised spectacle that features an army of clowns, bands, floats and oversized costume heads.
