Mayor Michael Bloomberg came under fire Friday for pressing ahead with this weekend's New York Marathon in a city still reeling from Superstorm Sandy.

NEW YORK -

The New York City Marathon will not be held Sunday, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday.

Bloomberg came under fire earlier Friday for pressing ahead with this weekend's New York Marathon in a city still reeling from Superstorm Sandy, with some New Yorkers saying that holding the race would be insensitive and divert police, generators and other resources when many are still suffering.

However, the marathon will not be held Sunday despite the mayor's decision.
