CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Thursday evening after fleeing police and being struck by a Jeep at Metro Parkway and Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township.

Police say a Fraser police officer was responding to a domestic dispute near 15 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway when he found the suspect on his motorcycle. The officer pulled up behind the motorcycle and the man fled.

The suspect was headed north on Groesbeck Highway when he was struck by the Jeep at Metro Parkway. The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

The motorcyclist did not suffer an injury to his head but did suffer other serious injuries that are not life-threatening, police say.

The area was shut down to traffic while crews cleared the debris.
