Police said the Monroe Township mother, Shelly Marie Deaton, was on Nobil Drive, which is near West Albain Road and South Dixie Highway, when she was hit just before 7 a.m. by a Dodge Intrepid that had gone off the road.

The Intrepid was driven by a 17-year-old who was on the way to school with her sister, police said.

The mother was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and her sister were not hurt.

Police say speed may have been a factor in the incident.
