DETROIT -

Mike Duggan will become the first declared candidate in the race for Detroit mayor when he files petition signatures Tuesday to get his name on the primary ballot in August and also for the election in November.

Duggan’s campaign said he has more than 1,000 signatures, twice the required minimum, and will present them to the Detroit Elections Office at 1:30 p.m.

Duggan is the former Detroit Medical Center CEO. He has also been Wayne County's deputy executive and a former prosecutor.
