Mike Duggan will announce Tuesday whether he has decided to run for Detroit mayor.

Duggan recently stepped down from his position as CEO at the Detroit Medical Center. He had said everyone would have to wait for his news conference to hear his official announcement on whether he is running for Detroit mayor.

That conference will be next week on the city's east side.

According to his campaign director, Duggan has conducted a thorough grassroots exploratory process since September which has included more than 70 intimate gatherings with Detroiters in their living rooms, churches, coffee shops and community centers.

Tuesday’s announcement comes as a direct result of the feedback he has gotten during these and many other meetings. He will be joined by about 500 supporters.
