Michigan movie theater among those nationwide targeted with bomb threat

Carmike Birchwood Cinemas 10 in Fort Gratiot evacuated after corporate company gets phoned-in threat

FORT GRATIOT, Mich. – Police issued an, "all clear" at the Birchwood Cinema following a bomb threat.

The movie theater in Michigan is among a handful across the nation that have been targeted with bomb threats.

The Carmike Birchwood Cinemas 10 in Fort Gratiot was evacuated Friday after a threat was called into the Carmike Cinemas corporate offices in Georgia that several bombs had been planted in the chain's theaters.

Deputies received the call shortly after 10 a.m.

The company operates more than 200 theaters in 35 states.

A bomb sniffing dog was called in to check the theatres.

Police say around 3 p.m. the building was cleared and no bomb was found.
