DETROIT -

The West Nile virus is a growing problem across the state of Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Community Health said Friday that the number of cases has increased to 57. The number of deaths remains at three.

Experts say the best way to protect against the virus is to remove standing water, wear repellant that contains DEET and wear long sleeves and pants in the evening.
