Man rescued from water after driving off I-96 in Brighton

Michigan State Troopers, Brighton firefighters pull man from water

BRIGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan State Police said a man traveling eastbound on Interstate 96 near Kensington Road on Saturday morning drove off the road and became submerged in a nearby body of water.

The man was found by state troopers after his vehicle hit brush and traveled about 200 feet off road before becoming partially submerged in water.

He was pinned in the vehicle upside down after it had rolled over.

After troopers entered the water and found the man in the vehicle, the Brighton Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to get through the vehicle to him.

He was pulled from the vehicle and transported to the Universtiy of Michigan Hospital where he was treated for injuries.

Michigan State Police were investgating the cause of the crash. The Interstate was closed for about one hour.

The troopers who went into the water searching for the man were evaluated by Livingston County EMS.
