ANN ARBOR, Mich. -

A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shooting and carjacking involving a cab driver in Ann Arbor.

Police say Eddie Charles Gardner fired a shot through the windshield of a cab Aug. 30 after getting into an argument with the driver.

The incident had prompted the University of Michigan to send out a text alert to the community - but it was canceled shortly after when Gardner and another person were arrested.

Gardner is charged with attempted carjacking.
