REDFORD, Mich. -

The man arrested for attempting to abduct a girl in Redford, pleaded guilty to charges and was sentenced to 1 to 7 1/2 years in prison on Tuesday.

Terry Lee Kostiuk, 52 of Redford, pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping/child enticement and accosting a child for immoral purposes in court.

Kostiuk was arrested after he attempted to lure six-year-old Madison McCue into his car on Jan. 2.

McCue was walking to a neighbor's house in the area of Poinciana, south of 7 Mile Road.

Mother, Christine Romain, said she was watching her little girl as she walked only a few doors down from her home.

That's when Kostiuk drove up to McCue and asked if she wanted some candy. "I didn't say anything, I just got on my scooter and rode all the way back home," McCue said.

The child was able to flee, and McCue's mother called police. Police released a composite sketch and Kostiuk was arrested.

Kostiuk is already a registered sex offender, he was convicted of accosting a child for immoral purposes back in 1996.
