Man charged in crash injuring Mich. trooper

MASON, Mich. -

A man who authorities say lost control of a car and struck a Michigan State Police trooper has been charged.

In a release, 50-year-old Mark Kollar of Novi was arraigned Wednesday in Mason on a felony charge of failing to use care while passing a police vehicle causing injury and a misdemeanor charge of causing serious injury during a moving violation.

A preliminary hearing is Jan. 12.

Police said Trooper Drew Spencer and his partner stopped a motorist for a traffic violation Sept. 4 along Interstate 96 in Ingham County's LeRoy Township, about 20 miles east of Lansing. Spencer, who was hospitalized with injuries, returned to work in December.
