Man charged in chase, crash that killed Monroe woman

The father of the woman driving with Austin Lee Hall-Sheedy, who faces charges, claims his daughter was held against her will in the vehicle before the crash that killed a 59-year-old Monroe woman.

MONROE, Mich. -

A car chase involving a Monroe Police officer ended in a crash just before 1 p.m. Tuesday. A 19-year-old Monroe County man faces charges after a police chase Tuesday ended in a crash and killed a 59-year-old Monroe woman. 

Austin Lee Hall-Sheedy is charged with fleeing and eluding police causing death. He also faces an unarmed robbery charge for an unrelated incident. 

Hall-Sheedy is accused of leading Monroe police on a chase before crashing into an innocent woman's sports utility vehicle. The woman, Diana Cupp, was killed in the crash. Police say she died instantly.

Hall-Sheedy's bond has been set at $1 million. He is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
