Shane Spatafore charged with assault with intent to murder for stabbing 17-year-old in basement of home

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A 17-year-old Lake Shore High School student has been charged with trying to kill a fellow teen during a stabbing attack in the basement of a home early Monday morning.

St. Clair Shores police said Shane Christopher Spatafore is accused of confronting the victim while spending the night at a home in the 22000 block of 13 Mile Road.

Police said Spatafore tried to run but was caught by officers in a back yard. They had to use a Taser on him.

He is charged with assault with intent to commit murder, resisting and obstructing police and malicious destruction of property.

He is an offensive lineman for his high school.

Police have not released the condition or name of the victim.

Spatafore's preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 14.
