DETROIT -

The Kid Rock Foundation, teamed with the Hartford Memorial Baptist Church, donated 100 Meijer gift certificates and 300 food baskets to assist Detroit families during the holiday season.

"This year more than ever before there will be more needy families, unfortunately even more than last year," said the Rev. Charles G. Adams of f Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.

Adams said the Michigan's continued economic troubles and recent legislation that complicates collection of welfare benefits in the state necessitates greater charitable giving.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with the Kid Rock Foundation in this effort to give to needy families in the community," said Adams.

Detroit-based musician Kid Rock is a renowned philanthropist. His non-profit Kid Rock Foundation helps finance awareness and assistance campaigns for impoverished children, the sick, and war and natural disaster victims.
