Inkster Wants Answers From Judge

Mayor Questions Finances Of 22nd District Court Run By Judge James

INKSTER, Mich. – Inkster Mayor Hillard Hampton has attorney David Jones representing the city in a case against Judge Sylvia James.

Jones said the 22nd District Court's finances are clouded in mystery because James will not share them with the city. He said James is withholding monies.

"I have no explanation for why it has not happened in a timely fashion," said Jones.

He has requested to see the books more than once.

However, James' attorney Sharon McPhail called the claims "baloney."

McPhail said her client is deducting the court expenses out of the money and then forwarding the rest on to the state, the county and the city -- as she is required to do.

McPhail said this is political backlash for past run-ins with Mayor Hampton.
