DETROIT – The 'Smoking Priest' has been returned to its rightful place after being missing for nearly two weeks.

The painting went missing September 23 from the Anchor Bar in Detroit.

Surveillance video showed a man stuffing the painting under the back of his jacket and walking out.

On Wednesday, the bartender on duty got an anonymous phone call saying the painting was in their lobby. The caller also said there is $100 for any damages done to the wall the painting hung on.

The painting of Monsignor Kern has been a part of the bar family for more than 30 years.

Kern spent four decades at Holy Trinity Church and died in the early 80s. But his name and picture lives on at the bar, displayed on a street sign and in black and white pictures.
