Roger Sweet, the husband of a woman who has been missing since Jan. 8 was arraigned on unrelated criminal sexual conduct charges Friday, Brownstown Township police said.

Sweet was held in the Wayne County Jail last Friday on a $500,000 bond. Police said he was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, which is sexual activity with an incapacitated victim. They added the charge was from Brownstown.

The search continues for his missing wife, Lizzie Collier-Sweet, who was reported missing since her Brownstown Township home burned on Jan. 8.

Brownstown police Lt. Robert Grant said that when the husband was asked about his wife's whereabouts, he said that if he had to guess, he'd say she was probably dead in the woods.

Police are now taking a second look at the death of Roger Sweet's first wife, Marlene, who they said died in 1990 in Farmington Hills.

Her death was ruled an accident at the time, but the medical examiner and Farmington Hills police are pulling files and re-examining evidence to see if the death could be suspicious.
