Heavy rain, possible ponding across Metro Detroit Friday

Heaviest rain may occur during Friday morning commute

DETROIT, Mich. – Friday may be a soaker as rain may become more than a nuisance for early morning Motor City motorists and people walking to the bus stop.  Heavy downpours may cause ponding on roads, and commuters will have to find alternate routes if large puddles are produced.  Pedestrians will need umbrellas and rain boots.  Temperatures will be in the low 50s.

Rain becomes more scatted during the afternoon, and clouds keep Southeast Michigan cool.  High temps will creep to 60 degrees.  The afternoon drive will be tricky, Detroit Grand Prix practice rounds will be impacted.  Racing fans can stay updated on ClickOnDetroit.com and Local 4 News on any delays or cancellations.

Showers linger into Saturday for Detroit Grand Prix festivities, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, the Rescue Rouge volunteer clean-up and other events.  The Detroit Area's cool-down continues with highs in the 60s.

There is some sunshine around the corner for the end of the weekend and early next week.  Any showers will be minimal as temperatures return to the 70s on Sunday.  Monday and Tuesday will be mostly sunny and milder.
