Woman not hurt, car is recovered following confrontation at 10 Mile, Greenfield roads

OAK PARK, Mich. – On Aug. 10, surveillance cameras at an ATM in Oak Park were rolling as a 41-year-old Southfield woman tried to make a deposit at Comerica Bank on 10 Mile and Greenfield roads.

At 8:17 p.m., a dark colored Ford 500 pulls up into view. That's when cameras capture the frightening confrontation between the woman and a man who is armed with a gun and whose face is half covered. The person driving the Ford 500 pulls away while the man robs the woman and then takes off in her Cadillac Escalade, police said.

Police think the crimes were planned - that the crooks had been waiting in a parking lot near the bank to steal a car of their choice. Police also tell Local 4 they believe the rims on the Ford are after-market and not from the original manufacturer. The car also has heavily tinted windows.

Police were able to recover the victim's car within an hour of the robbery due to OnStar. They located the Escalade near McNichols and Lasher in Detroit. Neither car had been damaged.

The victim's purse and cell phone were also found, only $200 in cash was stolen.

Police are asking for the public's help tracking down the two suspects.
