LIVONIA, Mich. -

A 73-year-old grandmother was killed in a two-story house fire early Tuesday morning in the 36000 block of Curtis Street near Wayne Road.

The Livonia Fire Department says the woman was watching her teenaged grandchildren for the night when a fire broke out about 1 a.m. She ran to wake the children up and helped them out of the home.

However, she was unable to escape the fire herself. She is from nearby Redford Township.

The Fire Department's preliminary investigation suggests the fire was accidental, but they still are investigating.
