Gas leak suspected in Detroit house explosion

DETROIT, Mich. -

A home sustains significant damage due to a suspected gas leak explosion on Plainview Street near Tireman on Detroit's west side.

A man inside the home at the time of the explosion was taken by EMS to the hospital for minor injuries.

The Detroit Fire Department responded to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. this evening.

The department is calling the incident a gas explosion.

DTE Energy is working to determine what caused the explosion. A preliminary investigation says there was no malfunction of equipment.
