EAST LANSING, Mich. -

Police and firefighters responded to several furniture fires and other disturbances in East Lansing following Michigan State's loss to Duke in the NCAA tournament.

Mlive.com reports Saturday that the off-campus fires and large parties dissipated after 2 a.m. and no injuries were reported. East Lansing police said details about the incidents would be released Monday morning.

Deputy Fire Chief Steve Alvarado says authorities were prepared, and the circumstances weren't extraordinary.

East Lansing has been the site of several past disturbances. Small fires were set last month following the basketball team's Feb. 19 loss to Indiana.

In 1999, damage was estimated at about $500,000 when the Spartan men lost in the Final Four to Duke. Revelers overturned cars, smashed store windows and set fires. Police arrested 132 people.
