A fugitive who has escaped two jail twice, most recently in Detroit, has been captured in Mexico.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Kevin Pettit said Wednesday that Rocky Marquez, 34, was taken into custody Tuesday night by Mexican authorities in Hermosillo, Mexico.

His girlfriend's mother, Catherine Cano, was also arrested.

Pettit said Marquez and Cano are US citizens so they are in the process of being brought back to the states.

Marquez is expected to be charged in Arizona and Cano in Michigan.

The escapes

Marquez escaped from the Wayne County Jail on Jan. 20 while awaiting extradition to Phoenix. He was arrested in the city earlier in the month after a manhunt for him had been going on since he escaped from an Arizona jail in May 2012 by impersonating another inmate and using their name and inmate number.

While in the Wayne County Jail, he pulled a similar move by switching ID bracelets with another inmate who was set to be released on bond.

He will face drug smuggling and perjury charges in Arizona.

Cano will be charged with aiding in Marquez's escape.
