A former Rockwood police officer who is accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a female prisoner while she was in his custody has been charged.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's office announced Tuesday that Christian Zieminski, 33, is charged with criminal sexual conduct second degree, criminal sexual conduct fourth degree, and misconduct in office.

Prosecutor Kym L Worthy's said in a statement that Zieminski engaged in inappropriate sexual contact using force or coercion with a female prisoner.

"These are very serious allegations that, if proven to be true, undermine the trust which citizens must have in our police officers,” said Worthy. “We will treat Christian Zieminski just as we would any other defendant.”

If convicted, Zieminski faces 15 years in prison for criminal sexual conduct second degree, five years for misconduct in office and two years for criminal sexual conduct fourth degree.

Zieminski was arraigned and received a $20,000 personal bond.

He is scheduled to be back in 33rd District Court on Sept. 10 for his preliminary hearing.
